Dedicated hosting. What services come with vary all over the map. Some colocation plans will give you almost no service, but other dedicated hosting will provide everything - for a price, of course.

Dedicated that is not dedicated? "Virtual" in conjunction with er, other relevant search words? ;)

You can have a dedicated server which is maintained by the hosting company, it will cost a little bit more but saves you having to learn all about the maintenance side, doing your own daily backup and installing the latest patches etc. Do a search for "dedicated server with maintenance contract" I would of thought most hosting companies offer this service, some you have to purchase your own server and others have the server cost built into the monthly price as rental. You will never look back after the initial setup is sorted out.

there are other web forums(other than webmasterworld) specifically dedicated to this web hosting topic and dedicated servers - do a search and you should find them.

Pair.com provides reasonably priced dedicated machines that they maintain. You do not get root access, but you probably don't want that anyway. It is pretty much like one of their shared servers but with only one user. Also, they will install mod_perl and some other stuff which they will not do on a shared machine.
