flash movie file size

 5:54 pm on Mar 18, 2004 (gmt 0)

I have a video (Windows Media) that is about 5 MB in size. When I import it into a Flash movie (that otherwise has nothing else in it) the size of the Flash file (.fla) jumps up to about 27 MB. The import settings for the video are:

Quality: 75
Keyframe Interval: 24
Scale: 100%

synchronize the frame rates, I also import the audio.

Does anyone know why this would increase the file size.

Btw, when I publish the Flash movie (.swf) the file size is 7 MB, still significantly bigger.

Also, if I try deleting the embedded video from the movie, the file size doesn't change.

Any ideas?

well, if you can convert the windows media video in a quick time video an then import ir in the flash, you'll get better results.

May be this white paper from macromedia helps...

and finally, may be this little tutorial helps too

Good luck
