Data not saving in Shared Objects

Hi,

I am having a problem with shared objects. I am using shared objects to register my app on a users machine. Basically it holds their username and email address which is checked at launch. If the shared object does not see a value for the email it brings up the registration section of code again. A few users are having problems with the registration process. It registers OK and allows the user to proceed on first launch. On subsequent launches it fails to read the shared object and requires the reg info again. This is happening to a small percentage of users (<1%) out of thousands of users. There seems to be no common system in use although the majority have new XP machines.
In talking with the users, there seems to be no reason this is failing. The users have indicated that the shared objects are enabled and set to the default 100K settings.
Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this and any solution?
The code is all being written from either a Mac projector or PC .exe. These files are all downloaded to the local machine and run from there. There shouldn't be an issue with domains as it will always be localhost or 127.0.0.1

Thanks in advance.

Colin
