Cannot open a flash file I created

I created a number of flash documents that I am now using on a site that I built. I need to go in and edit them, but when I try to open them in my Flash MX I get a message saying unexpected file format. Can you tell me why as MX is where I built them in the first place?

are trying to open the files that you actually published on the site? (.swf) or the original files used when creating the flash movies? (.fla)

if you are trying to open the published .swf files, you will have to use the import funcion instead of open.

If this is the case, you will be extremely limited in the amouint of editing you can do - its most likely that every frame will be a keyframe, no tweens or anything.

Much better to get the .fla files if you can
