Is there a setting somewhere to prevent members being able to add URL's in their profile for phpBB registration?

I know ver 2.0.11 had the validation code but one Adult forum I manage still gets people registering just to get a link. I know I can block memberlist.php with robots.txt but I want to prevent it rather than cure it so I don't have to delete these idiots accounts every day.

If there's no control panel setting, I'd suggest just editing the template or php page that displays the profile and commenting out the URL display.

i did this. you have to hack it by hand. i can't remember which file off hand, though.

the thing is, even without the link showing, these idiots still register at the forum. i'm not sure why other than it's probably automated and i'm on a list somewhere...

why would you want to stop people having urls?

I have run a commuinity for about 3 years - and tested several ways of running it - I found that if I blocked people using urls that I lost the professionals who were good posters ... because they at least got some recognition / branding if I let them post their urls

It can only add value really to your fourm - unless they are posting links to another fourm

That would work for a computer/web forum where pros would be contributing but this one is adult orientated so they only register to get a link back to their Russian porn site.

I'd rather just block them all together.
