I knew it would happen.

After the recent upgrades from 2.0.2 to .4 to .8 the forum (phpBB) has been running fine for a few days then this morning i get this:

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

I have checked the config.php file which is fine, checked the database which seems to be all intact, created a new DB account and password, but still no joy.

Anywhere else I should try?

I had troubles recently, and had to create the databases again :( I went nuts trying to see if my config.php got corrupted.

It turns out the Hosting company decided to move me to another server ... without telling me first.

Had a bit of a panic attack this morning ... especially after the recent forum upgrades I've been doing.

All fixed now!

That's exactly what happened to me. "We promise to move everything over for you," was their last words. I had more than twenty sites on that server, and lost all of the databases at first. Had backups of most, so I could re-build, but a couple had to be started from scratch.

Glad to hear it worked out for you.

Fred
