phpbb Plugin?
Word Censors
kodaks

Greetings,

I am wondering if there is a plugin that automatically installs common "bad" words into the word censor list on phpbb. It's not the most pleasant thing to have to enter the words manually.

Probably what you want is a starter word list rather than a plugin. Remember, your swear filter is useful for other things than bad language - it's a handy way to discourage persistent spammers who keep dropping the same company name, URL, etc.

Anyone have any naughty words to send kodaks? (I'm KIDDING!) Swear filters are of limited use anyway - people can find an infinite number of ways around them.

Oh great... now I'm getting some "colourful" language in my inbox :) Anyway, thanks I'll look for a starter list.

I did a Google search for the censor word list a while ago and found a great list. It took a while to find it, for some reason the lists aren't that common! The list has about a hundred words in it, plus wildcards, and I've been amazed at how well it works (almost TOO well sometimes). If you'd like a SQL dump of the censored word list, sticky me and I'll send it to you.

Best,

Dave
