It looks like on my site it has gone from indexing 1,820 pages to 1,550 pages :( so I would say that some trimming has been going on. Not sure about this update, in a few terms multiple pages from the same domain are showing although they haven't before (i'm really not bitter that i have been shunted to the second page of results ;) )

/me runs around in circles. Just a year ago I started out with 1 single page in google. Now it's up to 1500 pages all hand coded using notepad. Geez, I thought I'd would stop at 1000 but i feel better than ever. Another 10,000 pages here I come.

Maybe someone can help me understand something ... please ... I have two sites that have original content. Site A has been around for forever and had a page rank of 7 before the update in March when it went to a 6. This morning it was up to a 7 and literally minutes later it's back at 6. Not a big deal. Site B is a new site. Less than two months old. It bounced in and out of Google in the March update finally settling at a page rank of 5 with the index pages in the Google index, but not the articles. Imagine my *JOY* this morning when I noticed it was a 6 and that my logs showed over 100 hits from Google. I was elated. Thrilled. I looked at the logs and people were HITTING the articles and not just the indexes. Moments later, I literally mean moments later, when I went to check the site again the page rank is gone and traffic has stopped. Any ideas on what is happening? Why the tease?

Isn't this when the update "should" have been (i.e. every 28 days / full moon).

One of my domain names I had a single page setup for full of ideas which I planned on adding to the site, google came upon it last time around and gave it a PR0, I made the site into a full blown web page and this update I am seeing it totally gone from their index. (: w00ps, i screwed up by putting the words on the page where it was thought to be spam, but now the site is a good boy - should i wait for updates to happen then after a few months it will be alright again or should i send lots of mail to google ;) Other than that all my new additions got picked up and other sites are doing pretty well. So I am happy with this update. Google, watch out MSN seems to be catching up to yer clicks. But Im still not certain couz it could be MS employees clicking on the serps manually ;)

Wow, Google keeping us on our toes! Anyone seeing [google.com...] , [google.com...] and other Google content missing? <<EDIT>> This is probably a problem at my end... :(

>>These sites use the same strategies and methods. What gives?<< Andrew - I'm noticing inconsistent results on the same site. On a very large site, we've jumped up in pretty much everything, but have completely disappeared for a two-word phrase we've ranked on for quite a while. I'm also noticing that Google is still giving some very bad results on searches like san francisco widget marketing. In the last update, if someone was linked well for "san francisco" and had the phrase "widget marketing" somewhere on the home page, they'd rank higher than many widget marketing sites. Now the results are even more confused... I see "widget" and "marketing" occuring separately on the home page and a site ranking well. My guess is they're turning the knobs, so to speak, on various aspects of the algo... then looking at results and going back for retuning.

All of my top listings (which I've held for the past 3 years) have either been knocked down a few pages, or are no where to be found (got tired of searching for them) ...trying not to panic

kira, Nothing more to add than, I feel your pain. I guess there's a lot to be said for our traffic dependancy of Google, but, for the amount of referrals, why bother as much with the others? I guess today has been a cold shower for, and some rain on my parade. * sigh *

The ODP Categories have not all been updated. One category I've been watching still has spelling errors, dead links and is incomplete (doesn't match the ODP). IS GOOGLE FINISHED OR IS THIS ONGOING?

Kira, Eric: I'm with you. Seems to be a lot of good news in this thread but I've got two sites that have been stable for months suddenly completely dropped in this update. These sites were helping to feed and clothe the kids too. Darn this Google dependancy. Hows Teoma coming on? z6

Link counts, update when the rest of Google updates (it's just a normal search). I'd call this update a big success, we are #1 under our pet kw. Not only are we #1, we are also the ONLY one (which makes it a whack) and also makes for good karma: ;) [google.com...]
