 10:50 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

Say a prayer for NutsandBolts.

 11:01 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

My new site went in at number thirteen (unlucky or lucky).

everthing else seems all okay

 11:05 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

Well now....

At this moment, a cursory look seems to indicate several, if not all, of the sites I have are missing from www2.

And all this just before going to bed. No indication of PR0 or other difficulties. Time for a stiff drink. Hopefully all will be sorted out.

 11:30 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

is it me or did this start early?, anyway looks good so far :)

 11:38 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

Well, I'm impressed - my listing has yesterday's date next to it (19th). That's pretty fresh!

 12:08 am on Feb 21, 2002 (gmt 0)

I'm hoping the PR0 problems will disappear later in the update, because no sign of it lifting here... sob

 10:17 am on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

Yes indeed - grab your partners ladies and jellyspoons, the dance has begun...

 10:27 am on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

google cache on www2 still shows old pages on my domain so i guess no good news for us. :(
I guess i was too late correcting my pages for this update.

 10:57 am on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

Wow !!!
#2 for my preferred KW!!!

I love Google!!

>PR0 problems will disappear later in the update, because no sign of it lifting here

Same here, patience is wearing a little thin though, I'll give it another month then......

 12:07 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

Some of my pages have updated. 3 months with PR0, I am hoping (like nutsandbolts) that I leave the DMZ.

 12:20 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

How are you tracking which file date Google has cached? Is there a way to see this on Google? Or do you put a date mark as a comment or something in your html so that you can track it?

So far my site is up one position on www2. But Google is still showing an older cached version of my page. I updated the page on January 31 with some changes that should make a difference. I generally don't see movement until later in the dance.

 12:32 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

thanks beachboy ;)

Nope - still not in. Sigh..... :(

 12:39 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

Another nice update :) Quite a few up, a few down - won't know the real results until a weeks worth of referrals come in.

Split off the Cobranded websearch discussion: (worthy of it's own thread):

sorry for the date problem [webmasterworld.com]

 12:41 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

nutsandbolts: let us begin the cursing (not here, at home).... ;)

 12:44 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

:( so depressing.... What the freak do you have to do? I just wish they would answer my e-mails about this. Argggghhhh. :( :( :(

 12:56 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

Dont give up just yet N&B..
I am sure its just the start.

 1:02 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

Someone shout when the directory has been updated and toolbar (www) makes it switch.

 1:03 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

Thanks TMK. I cannot believe I'm getting so upset over a search engine..... :(

I'm writing a new letter to Google asking, well - pleading, for some help on this. Is search-quality@google.com the best e-mail to send it to or help@google.com ?

 1:08 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

N&B search-quality maybe?. But hold off for a bit. Didnt GoogleGuy say your domain was fine?.

Sit back, and have a break :).

I am in the same boat. I am just playing the wait and see game. There is always next month.

 1:11 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

What does 'www2' refer to?

 1:13 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

(edited by: TMK at 1:14 pm (utc) on Feb. 20, 2002)

 1:14 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

TMK: No, Googleguy didn't .... :(

Many sites that were affected last month I can now see in this index, so I'm 100% sure I won't be in now.. what you see, is what you get.

Thanks for your comments anyway TMK :)

 1:18 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

N&B well if others are back in and we arent looks like next month.

Oh well.

 1:23 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

My site still not showing :( From PR6 to PR0 ... Very depressing :)

 1:28 pm on Feb 20, 2002 (gmt 0)

nutsandbolts, when did you make changes to your sites? I made like 2 weeks ago or little more, google cache is still showing all old pages. I hope i am not in penalty box that says "out for 6 months no matter what he does"!

One domain i own had alsmot the same content like another one - changed it 2,3 weeks ago to one page site(similar to pages that are now in top 20 in google). We will see if now this one is more acceptable like the other one before.I am seeing few pages of this kind(one page with redirects) poping in in top 30 on this latest update! Makes you kinda disapointed that you spent days designing new pages that can now be nowhere to find instead of just copying one page site and now i could be in top 30!

But again i will wait for next update and I will go on risk and almsot totally separate my domains. If there is one SE worth this then it is Google.(but i dont know for how long).

ps: they responded to me on search-quality very fast everytime. It was more generic reply they send to anyone but at least they replied :)

Although i got explanation why SEs cant tell us their laws i still feel it is somehow unfair - NOT what they did but THE WAY they did it. Woudl you like to invest your money or sign up for some service, even free, whcih would have something in terms and then later they would jsut add some new lines there and didnt tell you and they would at once tell you you broke the law so you will be punished. DOESNT matter what was ok or not WHEN you signed up and that you didnt know that terms changed, NOW it says it is wrong so you are guilty. again, i wish they could hint us like GG did now few days ago before they implemented this new filters.

But all in all , if i look on big picture i am still positive with Google and optimistic more. I think we will get ourtraffic back in this year :)

Hi JonB: I dropped the crosslinking around the 1st-2nd Jan.. I think the penalty is a 2-3 month thing..

Dost: Sorry to hear that. I know how you feel.. I lost a lovely bouncing pagerank of 6 last month. :(

Anyway, I'm glad some people are back this update - please don't brag TOO much...:)
