I think they just got done updating the ODP.
10:25 pm on Jul 19, 2001 (gmt 0)
I'm not seeing any changes on google except maybe the sites in the directory.
4:45 am on Jul 20, 2001 (gmt 0)
I still have yet to see any sites change except the CNN one change.
None of mine have...
Some of the rankings have, but this is probably due to different size databases being used. No dramitic observations as of yet...

Well. I see new results on all googles. Been set back on all my important KWs. Thrown out of top10 everywhere. Had lost some ground with the last update, but this is a nightmare. No clue what happened. Revised yahoo listing, higher linkpop and getting buried. Black friday for me.
12:49 pm on Jul 20, 2001 (gmt 0)
Yes, I see new rankings - Things are getting worse - Really bad.
Interesting, cached copies are the ones crawled on May 25th.
1:04 pm on Jul 20, 2001 (gmt 0)
I am not seeing any new results.....same ones I have been seeing for the past weeks.
I also know that Google is not picking up the new descriptions or titles that I have put onto my pages......I am waiting for this to happen.
1:15 pm on Jul 20, 2001 (gmt 0)
yeah, my new pages are gone again, dramatic loss in rankings has changed a bit back and forth over the last hour and between the googles.
6:00 pm on Jul 20, 2001 (gmt 0)
Since I first posted this yesterday I have seen the rankings for my four top kw's change up and down between all three googles. One minute the rankings for many of the top sites have movement and in a few minutes they are back where they were - on all three googles.
I give, I'll just wait it out and hope, pray, genuflect to the google gods, for the best. No change in my cached pages since last week sometime though.
6:39 pm on Jul 20, 2001 (gmt 0)
I've seen the July 16th CNN cache, but that's the only form of update I've seen on Google so far.
6:56 pm on Jul 20, 2001 (gmt 0)
Bobriggs I remember you were among the people having suffered in the last ranking shifts, is that right?
If so do you have any ideas on what has caused this?

I've been trying www, www2 and www3 every 30 mins for the last 6 hours... no change (Timezone: GMT. Tue Jun 5 19:37:18 GMT 2001.).
I can't work out how you guys are finding the new dbase and not me.
Patience is a virtue I obviously lack!
8:36 pm on Jul 20, 2001 (gmt 0)
I agree, I can see a slight difference in some rankings but no new or updated pages
10:22 pm on Jul 20, 2001 (gmt 0)
It's interesting that I see no new pages yet, but, I do see new positioning.
I'd guess an algo tweak has occurred and recent spidering has not yet been applied.
Googlebot has been around in the last few weeks so, for those of you waiting for new pages that have been spidered, it's a question of patience, as Napoleon mentioned.

>an algo tweak has occurred
exactly. Just what part of the algo has been tweaked? For my KWs, it´s unchanged top10 serps - only my pages have been kicked out.
I wonder if those sites that have lost ground on the last ranking shifts on 7th of July have lost again. For me it´s certainly the case.
>recent spidering has not yet been applied
my only hope....
12:58 am on Jul 21, 2001 (gmt 0)
I am still guessing it will be a few more days. The cache thing was interesting though...
12:48 am on Jul 22, 2001 (gmt 0)
Definite position changes going on right now for a few terms. Dance is underway.
10:09 am on Jul 22, 2001 (gmt 0)
Has anyone seen any pages from the last crawl added yet. My page total is still exactly the same and the first SERP for my target keywords is showing in exactly the same order, but there are about an extra 300000 results being returned for the query.
1:11 pm on Jul 22, 2001 (gmt 0)
There is real changes on www2 - have jul 6 cache date on search for "date".
1:22 pm on Jul 22, 2001 (gmt 0)
I am rated #2 for "Google Page Rank" - Thanks to this board I guess :)
1:57 pm on Jul 22, 2001 (gmt 0)
www2 is indeed updated. Looking good! I hope all fared well on this update.

www2 has it now. All new pages. Serps are still in motion. Right now it looks like the desaster from friday, the penalty/ranking shift befor the update, will not hit that hard. At least I´m back from page 3 to page 2. Whatever, maybe I´m buried tomorrow. I need to know what´s going on here.

horrible results, on www2, search for my domain shows only pages linking to me,
2:25 pm on Jul 22, 2001 (gmt 0)
I love Google. Things are looking good for me...
They even indexed my "freeservers page" at number 3 for the keywordphrase I was targeting.
They had skipped over it last time.
3:48 pm on Jul 22, 2001 (gmt 0)
Just ran 25 of the kws I wanted placed past www2. 24 of 'em ranked #1.
This update is lookin' goooood.... :)
4:18 pm on Jul 22, 2001 (gmt 0)
Gotta love the Goog! When will this update of the www2 directory go live in the main diretory?
4:20 pm on Jul 22, 2001 (gmt 0)
Last time it was very quick (a few hours), but it goes back and forth for a few days.
4:40 pm on Jul 22, 2001 (gmt 0)
Nube you said:
>horrible results, on www2, search for my domain shows only pages linking to me,
Interesting - can you confirm whether all the other pages were NOT spidered or not in the last visit?
I've seen the same effect elsewhere.
I also have noticed a few pages of these pages popping back into w2
5:11 pm on Jul 22, 2001 (gmt 0)
It looks very much like they have partially reversed out the changes of 7th July with a slight algo treak.
I say partially because for me, we are back a little closer to where we were originally... but only a little.
Nube's point about pages pointing to you ranking higher applies. This is what I found on the 7th for quite a few domains. Now there has been a bit of a shuffle, a couple have reversed, but many remain in post 7th status (ie: pointing sites doing better).
I think that this whole thing may be a bit of an early flier from Google, and suspect that more algo changes are on the way.
