|Can website hubs get good page rank and traffic?|

If you were to start up a site that was basically a hub for all the "best" information, that would mean most of your info is from other places already on the net.
So even, if correctly edited for typo's and making sure pages are inserted for long articles, wouldn't that demolish your ability to get good page ranking?
Or would the editing and page seperations be enough to get decent ranking?
