I have to do a site that requires a public area and a members area.

In the members area people can see more information and fill out a form to order things (not e-commerce, after they place an order it is then handled through faxes and phone.)

What I am looking for is a system that allows users to request registration basically. I just don't want to have to code it all from scratch.

If you want a service to totally create the form coding for you and process the form, google "form maker OR creator OR generator".

If you are going to make the form coding, but you want a third party to process it, google "form processing".

Sorry I was unclear in what I was looking for. I could code this all, I am a programmer more then a webmaster, but I don't think that it is time well spent.

What I want is the registration system from something. Mambos would work pretty well with some tweaking. phpbb would also work. Neither of those are quite what I am looking for though.

I want the web based user management, becuase there is part of the site that requires membership to get to. The internal part does not change much so content management isn't required, it is more for placing orders.

I'd look into using pat_user - [php-tools.de...] - or see what it's equivalent is in PEAR - [pear.php.net....] There's a tutorial on using pat_user over at devshed and these guys seem to be pretty good programmers, they've done stuff that's in pear too. There's an article on using the PEAR class 'Live User' here: [php-mag.net...]
