new graphic appeared in folders

 11:26 pm on Jan 14, 2004 (gmt 0)

We have noticed a shadowy graphic has appeared in the background of the folder we hold our web pages on.

This is not appearing in any other folders.

The graphic is in the lower right hand corner of the page and also appears in the picture tasks window on the left side tasks bar in XP.

The picture ia a rectangle on an angle with an inner rectangle and a ball broken into alternating segments of black and white.
Can anyone tell me what this is and what it does?
Is it a virus?

Hi spiky,

Could this just be a watermark the MS put in to beautify the web folder view and allow you to see that it is a web folder and differentiate it from other folders?

Thank you.

We also have it in a photo folder.

I tried moving one of our web pages into an admin folder and the graphic did not appear.

What I need to know is if this is viral?

Nothing. It's like a ghost immage or background.

It does not move when you use the bar to go up and down the page.

I'm strongly inclined towards this being XP putting watermarks on special folders, like image folders and web folders...

Yes it is, i also get a lovely double-clef watermark in My Music folders in XP. Its not Viral.
