We are in the process of putting Skype contact buttons: [skype.com...] on a couple of our websites, has anyone tried this, what do you think of the idea? They are ecommerce sites and the idea is that people will be able to Skype us about products / problems.
I think it's a good idea on high value goods, especially if you have a high bail-out rate at the checkout stage.
On low value goods, you don't really want to be spending time taking calls...
I would add a general contact number at the same time though - it seems somehow wrong to me to set your site up so that only people with Skype can contact you. That could be taken the wrong way by some visitors (especially on the "problems" side).
If you already have existing contact numbers, and this would be additional to those, you can't really lose.
