We used to have a standard search engine submission package that we would bolt on to our SEO package which included; Yahoo
Inktomi x 5
Altavista x 5
Looksmart
Teoma x 5
But the recent MSN/Yahoo shake-ups have really got me thinking. These days due to the way that the Yahoo pages are laid out there is little point in paying $199 per year to be in their directory, whats the point when it is so well hidden behind the Google results (or the new Yahoo SE in the US)?
To get into MSN (UK) We used to happily submit to Looksmart and as a back up we would submit to Inktomi...Happy days! But now Looksmart UK is dead and Inktomi is CPC! So to get into MSN (UK) now its either Overture (CPC) Inktomi (CPC) or MSN Directly (CPC)
I would hardly bother paying to get into Altavista, Lycos and the other tiddlers which leaves us with Teoma which in all honesty is only any good as a means to get into Ask.
Which sadly means that the only things worth Optimising for these days is Google and the new yahoo engine, and maybe the new MSN search engine that is going to be launched in 6 months time.
All in all I am getting a little worried about SEO, something that I have chosen for a career for the last 5 years is hanging onto Google NOT changing to a CPC Search Engine!
If anyone has any suggestions for what I should include for the PFI package, they would be greatfully received!
