Why is Inktomi not visiting my site?

 8:24 pm on Feb 23, 2004 (gmt 0)

Before the switch by Yahoo from Google to Inktomi my site was doing well in Yahoo. However, after the switch my traffic on Yahoo dried up completely, presumably because Inktome was not providing the traffic that Google had been providing. I have checked my log and find that Inktomi is not visiting my site. I know I'm in the Yahoo index as if I search on my domain, my site comes up. I am not in the YAhoo SERPS for any unique keywords or phrases. I paid for inclusion in Inktomi some time ago, but never received a visit from it more than once or twice a month, whereas I was receiving hundreds of visits a day by Yahoo. Does anyone know what I should do to resolve my problem. I have a quality site and have not overly optimized it.

I hate to be the bearer of possible bad news but you might have an inktomi penalty. Do a search for "inktomi penalty" here and you'll find out that you're not alone. So far you can't appeal or find anything about it either. I'm in the same boat.

You probably don't have an Inktomi penalty, but don't expect the kinds of visits or indexing with Yahoo/Inktomi that you got with Google.

From the ability to crawl and index, Inktomi is "far" inferior to Google.
