Fairly good search engine. Not popular anymore. Getting any referrals from your #1 position?

Well, I have several top 5 listings that result in virtually zero traffic. WBF

You would probably get more referrals from having your URL printed on a t-shirt than from Alta Vista. (maybe a bit of a stretch but not by much)

Google is picking up your backlinks internally, just not updating the toolbar that often and the dance is dead. Google seems to be changing far more gradually, good move by them.

I have several two, three-keyword phrases placed in the top and I get about 2,5 % of my referrals. I think AV is very fast in reindexing. I recently got good links in sites having a PR of 7 and those back links showed in AV only two days later! I suppose that linkpopularity is an important factor in this engine.

It depends on which region your clients come from, from where I am there's still this somewhat perception that Alta is still 1 of the major players. But to me based on their SERPs - they s*** big time :)

Once you get below the Big Three, the others get nichie. Search terms that match AV's demographic audience can do well.

| Hmmm. The only AV referrals I got this week were for misspellings of the search terms.
