There have been mixed opinions on that, but it can't hurt to submit some interior pages with the free submit.

I have also done the paid inclusion for Fast / Inktomi for my single URL (home page). I did this shortly after launching my site (about 4 months ago). Just this morning, I checked my web logs, and noticed that the inktomisearch spider is all over my other pages. It usually comes 2-3 times a day, and only hits my home page, but today it's running wild over my entire site. I didn't submit to the free inclusion that you mentioned, Inktomi just decided to come on over. I haven't checked to see if my pages are showing up in their SERPs, but maybe they're just indexing more of the web to provide a more useful service than just paid inclusion home pages?

I guess your site was refrenced by another site that is already indexed by Inktomi and that is why the crawler went over your site. I hope this is the case since my new site is already refrenced by many other sites. Cheers, epsrx

Does the free submit actually work? Has anyone ever had a page/site spidered without having any external links?

I have never had a problem getting an index page spidered, but getting it further into a site just doesn't seem to happen for any of the sites that I monitor.
