I've noticed, too, that pages I hadn't paid for inclusion on Inktomi have suddenly started appearing in results. Makes me wonder, is this going to be an ongoing practice or just an occasional game of catch-up to avoid becoming irrelevant.

This has been going on for about a year, if I recall correctly. Sometime last summer (around August maybe?) they started spidering as much of the web as they could and my pages suddenly started showing up in MSN searches. Ever since they see to have been spidering paying and non-paying sites with equal enthusiasm. Makes you wonder what the PFI people get for their money :)
