Still Confused about LS and MSN

I poured through a few older threads on the subject but I'm not sure if some of the information applies to the current state of LS and MSN.

In summary I want to get some good serps on MSN. The Ink results are below a lot of LS results so I know I have to get into LS. The site would be considered commercial and not get accepted into Zeal.

It appears that MSN uses a different algo than LS when returning LS results.

Some people have claimed the serps in MSM are based only on the info (title, description and keywords) in looksmart, however human editors determine your title and description.

Does this information seem current?
Does the category you submit to matter for the MSM results?

What's the best way to ensure you get a title/description listed the way you want? I would imagine thet my submitted page content/title would have to support the title/description to LS.

Thanks,

Seems that you have a fairly good grasp of the current LS / MSN situation. Best way to get what you want, is to submit the stuff that accurately depicts your site to LS, and then hope that it gets into a good position :)

Also, if the ROI is there, consider Overture (as that will get you above LS if you haven't already been using them, anyway). Then keep in mind, that for some keyword markets, MSN sells them direct as well...so, if possible, don't ignore that avenue (though I don't have details on that program - and it may get discontinued according to rumor).

Remember to use a tracking url, and cookie the user based on the referrer, so you can measure accurately the performance of your campaigns.

I'm tired of hoping for things to happen after this past Google fiasco ;)

If you don't get a decent position can you tweak the LS title description and play with it like you would an Ink listing?
