"reviewed websites" for looksmart and msn "web directory sites"?
reviewed websites for msn. looksmart looklistings

 2:58 am on Jun 28, 2003 (gmt 0)

I have read that the only way to get into the "directory sites" for msn in through looksmart, which means that you have to pay .15 per click on those. Yet, when I right-click and paste many of those listings from my competitors show as plain free listings. I can tell the ones that come from looksmart because it has the messy looksmart url on the click. So...some of the "web directory listings" are not .15 a click listings and are free, right? How in the world do you get in there for free?:)

While I am at it I would love to know the difference between the MSN directory sites and the looksmart reviewed websites. As far as I can tell, looksmarts "reviewed sites" are the .15 per click listings and msn's directory listings are a mix of looksmart paid listings and "real" listings. Looks like msn wants to appear as if they are serving algo search results when really it's just a dumby version of Overure. <Grumble> I can't stand looksmart.

I know this isn't a "free advice" forum. I just can't find the answers to these questions anywhere else. I've lurked here for quite a while and done search engine optimization for quite a while too for my own site, but this one baffles me. I would be very appreciative of any help.

Zeal.com is a noncommercial directory od free listings that are included in LS. You can go there and become an editor and add noncommercial sites (zeal outlines what is noncommercial on their site).

sure it is.

THanks for the heads up. I jsut went in and tried to submit my site. My site has been "banned from zeal" because I was once using looksmart and cancelled that looksmart account.
This is lame. My site got pulled out of ink when I pulled it off of looksmart and it got banned from zeal.
I'm going to have to contact looksmart and ask if they will remove the ban.

Is there a way to contact a seal moderator of some kind and see if they can lift the ban on my site there at zeal? There's got to be a way that this can be done :(

I am sure you can go into the zeal forums and find an LS editor to send your question. I am not sure a regular editor can really help out on this. I have never heard of a site being banned from zeal. What happens when you try and submit it? Is it a commercial site?
