Altavista (Scooter) bot has been on my site for last two days none stop and still here, is this normal if it is how long will it stay and does it do any harm to my site performance.

I also have noticed and reported increase instance of the AV crawler visits.

Here are the general logs:

Visits from buildrach56.sv.av.com (216.39.48.134)
This visitor used Scooter/3.3

June 18 - 1 Visit
June 19 - 3 Visits
June 20 - 7 Visits
June 21 - 11 Visits
June 22 - 12 Visits
June 23 - 9 Visits (till 10AM UTC)

The Altavista Bot, Scooter has been busy for a long time, hitting from different IP's and with different extensions like 3.3 and 3.3_SF.

Don't think it will do any harm to site performance. Some members here has put a disallow for Scooter in their robots.txt, mostly members with large sites +1000 pages, to save bandwith.

Altavista delivers nearly zero traffic...

Thanks for reply but the Scooter Bot is still on my site and now its been over seven days when everi go to my forums i see bot is still online but i dont see any listing on altavista for my site where as google, yahoo and best of all Alexa has like 700 to 1200 each on the seach engines
