| New Yahtomi Business Model? ...please say it isn't so... |

I have some paid URL's in Inktomi for the better traffic keywords in my industry corresponding to about 8% of my total website pages. This is a medium-sized, straight HTML site and only qualified for the "per URL" charge, not the "Trusted Feed" program. However, mostly all of the 400+ pages in my website are indexed in Inktomi - that is until last Thursday when all of my non-paid pages disappeared. Sure, I know, it can happen. But today, I get an email from an Inktomi representative requesting me to call them about joining another paid inclusion program called Index Connect and even offering - wouldn't you know - a free trial. My guess is that the free trial will necessitate Inktomi putting all my pages BACK IN the index to show me how much free traffic I USED TO GET! ...that I won't get anymore? It wouldn't have been much of a free trial, what with all of my pages already in the index, now would it? "Uh, what will I do? I think I'll keep my free traffic and you keep your new program." Is this going to be the Yahtomi sales method? You know, I would have responded to a nicely worded note from Inktomi - I didn't need to get hit upside-the-head with the 2x4. Jeez. Ya just have to go through a reseller like PositionTech or one of the other ones that didn't just get axed. From what I hear prices for Ink TF programs are going to get raised on or about June 15.
