Inktomi & Fast
Did I make the right decision?

 6:17 am on Feb 25, 2003 (gmt 0)

OK, waiting is not an option for me, so I used Lycos InSite Select to submit to both engines Inktomi and Fast I paid $65.

Did I make the right move as to submitting the site to those engines? Will they index all my pages?

PS: Just a note: Its just so terrible! All great search engines are now requesting money for submissions (except for Google, AllTheWeb and DMOZ, and Gigablast).. This is just ridiculous. I remember 2 years ago when most of submit your site services were free... Now each wants to be paid $25 on average! Otherwise, you're left with just a few weak choices. Not everyone can afford it. :(

Two things:

a) You made the right move if you have correctly researched keywords and optimised accordingly the pages you submitted and paid for. If you didn't, I'm afraid it is money down the drain.

b) Only the page you submitted will be spidered - the bad news is the paid spidering is per page - not per site.

All search engines will pick up your unpaid for pages in due course, you will just have to wait a while.

Oh, and AlltheWeb is FAST - so it accepts paid inclusion. Putting a complete site in paid inclusion costs a lot more than $25.00!

I'd take Ask/Teoma over FAST.

"Will they index all my pages?"

They will (probably) index the ones you paid for. They will not index the rest. FAST has removed all my free pages since I made the mistake you just did.
