Hi Sell2, welcome to the board. I don't understand the question. Could you give a bit more detail of what you want know?

I guess the question is ...

Altavista seems to be using homepage.com (idealab.com company). Do they offer a premium position for pages on homepage.com.

I have noticed MSN ranking their own communities high in their search.

sorry, let me ask this question a little better.
I have some pages, doorways, on altavista (homepage.com)
my guess is altavista and homepage.com work together. they give you 10 meg of free space and you can build your pages there or store them. they also offer search engine promotion that lets you submit to the basic search engines who require only email address and url. very basic. i wanted to know if anyone has had any success with this submiter and if it actually works. I have emailed altavista and they replied to me that it works as if you submited each page individually to a search engine, a basic automated submiter, ...again my question is if their submiter works or if i would be wasting my time using it.Does the submission actually get to each search engine?
thank you for any input.

Sell2, I've never heard of it. Our basic rule is to advise you to stay away from auto-submitters unless you're fairly experienced.

This is a very good question.
- Top keyword list of 12000 keywords.
- Spidered for 100 results per page.
- Total results seen (arpx 1,193,000)
- Total homepage.com hits:

umm, let me get back with that figure. It was just about done calculating when the program dumped. grrrr. (Its 495meg of data/12k pages to analyze - takes about 90minutes to run it through the page shredders).

429 here [webmasterworld.com]. rank¦keyword. (think like a programmer where 0=first ranking spot)
So, I don't think it is a real rankings bonanza. Get a bit more of a boost than the other free hosts like geocities or xoom.
