Does anybody have pages that were submitted and got into INKTOMI within the last 30 to 45 days that survived the drop a few days ago??? Steve

I think I spoke with a different guy. Unfortunately I don't recall his name. He did say "all" of our databases are up and running. That conflicts with the idea that there is only one database, which is what your guy said. Does anyone there know what they're talking about?

I have some doorways, left in AOL in fact the only thing left within inktomi that has not been dropped the pages where submitted over the last 6/8 weeks. I've just checked and there still there, but of all my other clients and doorways have now vanished. should we be resubmitting ? I submitted to canada last week (HELP) I was hoping to get some of these rankings back befor the end of the month as this is when I do a report for my clients telling them there rankings, or not !!!

They probably know exactly what they're talking about. ;) they're just not telling us. I just did some searches in AOL on the inktomi side and the results are very odd and not terribly relevant. Seems like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand's doing anymore! Did Inktomi merge with the IRS??

Lets hope not if your IRS is anything like the good old inland revenue over here, we will never see anything agian. Except a big black whole were the inktomi partners used to be.

I started a promotion with 20 domains about june 1, and had aproximately 6,000 pages in AltaVista (which are still there) and Ink (which are NOT there). I have nothing at this point in Google, so my hits dropped in half when Yahoo dropped Ink, then dropped in half when the Ink database disappeared. If the pages stick in AltaVista...they should stick in Ink. Unless Ink suffered some catastophe, and everyone there would know, they are using an old database while they massage the new one. It doesn't seem reasonable to write off two months of submissions..unless they were accidentially deleted or corrupted.

OK guys I called back and talked to a guy named Chris. I told him that I had been noticing URLs dropping from the index. I mentioned that there was a major drop on July 5 and July 11 and that both times things came back. At this point Chris asked me to hurry up and get to the point. I asked him if there was a database down. He said that we are working on it. Then just to make sure we were on the same wavelength I said so "something is down and you guys are working on it and have plans to put it back up?" He said: "Yes, but since you're not a customer I can't get more specific." I must say although Chris was not the nicest guy in the world (he did say he was working on something urgent at the time), he seemed to be the most knowledgeable. I believe what he said. (Maybe I just want to believe it.)

If you guys ever call INKTOMI and get the guy named Chris Barry, just apologize and leave him alone. Haha... (inside joke between me and Jimmy). Actually, the joke is, I talked to the same guy. He seemed like he already received like 50 calls today. So we know why he was frustrated. Oops... poor guy. Anyways, I basically got the same info as Jimmy did. Hope it comes back soon.

Well good morning from the UK to everyone (maybe not so good) Just checked my rankings agian and I don't think your be surprised to hear no sign of my doorways. Can you please offer me some advice though. Unfortunatley my ISP can't let me access to my log files(but they are working on this and claim they will have resoved by next month) so I'm unable to tell if inktomi has paid me a vist OR NOT. I have re submitted all my clients doorways 2 weeks ago, as like most people had lost all my rankings, but with all the obvious problems inktomi is having should i re submitted agian ? thanks P.S can anyone tell me why the time entry on my posting is never correct ?. message in fact was posted 7/22 @ 08:00. Things to note on this update, rather than who someobody talked to, and how close estimates were to when the production DB was coming back online. iWon.com (which had tweaked their Ink Algo. back in mid-May), now appears to be running the standard Ink Algo.. We have high rankings on many one word phrases. More traffic from iWon in the last 6 hours than the last month, it seems.... hotbot.com (same deal here, though we're relegated to 2nd page at best because of DH and DMOZ). We have many rankings that were not previously indexed in Hotbot. These iWon/Hotbot rankings are on URL's that were previously in the Ink DB, but only did well at InkYahoo/MSN/etc... Anybody else seeing this same pattern?

My pages were all pack this moring (10:00AM EST)but I note that they were pages that had been submitted through Canada and/or Anzwers on 5-28 and 5-30-2000. I had resubmitted these same pages on 7-10-2000 and the newer versions did not show up. Wonder if they had a June 1 cutoff or something? Gil

I wonder if iwon and hotbot are going to stay in line with the msn? They were all in line before some months ago and then iwon and hotbot tweaked their algo. Perhaps this is the default algo and we will begin to see some tweaks soon.

IWon and GoTo were identical results, MSN and Hot Bot were the same as each other but different to the first 2.

All I can say is Wow! I'm very happy with the results. I've noticed one thing about the new "change". Inktomi results seems to be more firm across the board... meaning, before the switch, it seemed like I was only getting INK results from MSN. But now I see more stable results from Hotbot, Canada, and all the other INK engines.

I have been submitting 10 pages a day for months, and continued through all the problems at INK. I lost 8,000 pages and have not seen any pages show up I have submitted since the "crash". A total of 60 pages came back..scattered among 20 domains. I am feeling paraNOID!

I'm starting to get a complex from Ink. ;) I had great standings with them for a long time. Never "spammed" the directory, yet I haven't been able to get a new page in since mid June. I haven't seen any of my dropped pages back yet. Are you all seeing your stuff get back in? When submitting to Canada and Anzwers at this point what is the average time from submission to indexing? Thanks Jill

Jilly I submitted to canada/anzwers 19/7 and their starting to show in hotbot/MSN/looksmart/snap although i did have another client that did start to show up on freeserve for a couple of keywords but has now vanished, hopefully it was just a glitch and that keyword with the others will start to come back. Perhaps it went into this other DB i keep hearing about ?

Try iWon, it seems pretty hot to me. I hate the pop-ups but the db seems like it's up-to-date. I always find hotbot is slow to update. Recently, canada and anz has been slow too.
