Welcome tigger,
Unless it has changed, handbag used to use ukmax.
Have you noticed if ukmax is working with ink?

hi engine

but dosn,t ukmax pull from inktomi ?

I've had very good rankings in the past with imky so I'm always on the look for new search engines that use there database, I've found over the last few weeks that freeserve is picking up most of my pages and thankfully ranking them normally within the top 5. ( you watch there all fall of now !!!! )

Anyone have the actual Partners Page on Inktomi url? I looked for 20mins and couldn't find it on their website (I can never find it there). I promise to bookmark it this time. Thanks

Tigger, I'm not sure these are ink results on ukmax. I thought it was their own database.
I've monitored for traffic from ukmax and seen nothing - i'd guess i've not given them too much attention.
Perhaps I ought to now.
cheers.

hi Engine

I've been submitting page's to ukmax now for about 4 mths with nothing to show, mind you the way inktomi's playing now I don't seem to be getting any listing with any partners, I lost all my doorways about 2 weeks ago, which realy pissed me of as most of them where coming up on freeserve ranking in the top 3 ( which my clients loved)

Now their on the phone wanting to know when there going to be back

tigger,
clearly, the ink listings in ukmax are filtered. I even tried the worldwide listings and got a uk-flavour back.
There is a great deal of discussion about ink dropping listings. What seems to be coming out of this is to ensure you have some inbound and outbound links to the site you're submitting.

Have you checked to see if the sites are in the other ink databases?

I began a SE promotion with 10 domains in early June, and within two weeks had achieved a substantial amount of hits, from Ink, Ink-Yahoo, and AltaVista. I dropped 50% in the switch to Google-Yahoo, and another 50% in the switch in DB at Ink...none of the sites submitted in this promotion remain in the Ink database, although I do have a few in from previous promotions, the latest dated June 9. I have been extensively crawled by Google, and others, but nothing has shown up. I have several thousand pages listed in AltaVisa in this promotion...however the hits have been a pee-hole in the snow.

Engine

some are starting to get picked up by MSN and snap, nothing with Looksmart/aol/Iwon although i did have some very good rankings with iwon

I think hotbot is still working on a d/b from the 80's

It nice to see a forum that has uk search engines details, I've only recently come across this forum in the past I've always looked around Jim's forum

Re: UKmax

"Our Inktomi-powered search engine automatically 'crawls' the Web to find your results and presents them in an easy to read and ordered list, with the most relevant pages at the top of the list to save you time."

Hi Tigger,
Glad you could join us. pop over to our uk search engine forum sometime you'd be welcome.
Hotbot LOL - it's been very slow to update - i'd guess it's down to reaching limits on its new site additions - in effect, ignoring all others.

Hi Dumpy, welcome to the forums. Are you getting any joy from ink/ukmax?

Thanks NFFC - I'm now trying to find out the filtering that is going on and which ink database they are using. Any ideas anyone?

Hi NFFC

you refer to "your search engine" and "presents the results in easy to use format" I use WPG to search out inktomi rankings but it only checks hotbot, aol, goto, msn, looksmart, iwon, snap. as we all know theres lots more out there, of which I have to find and then check for rankings (very time consuming)

this software you refer to is it avaible on the market and if so how much.

>you refer to "your search engine"

Sorry for the confusion, that just refers the text on UKmax's site and is nothing to do with me.

Personally I only check Ink at canada, aol.co.uk and freeserve, this should be more than enough to establish your position.
