I got into both these engines today, with what I believe to be a site that should be #1-#5 definetly compared to what is there. And somehow I am ranked near 200? do they always place their sites low at first, and let them work their way up? And if so, how can a site work itsway up, by doing what? thanks.

Inktomi doesn't seem to progress you up the ladder over time, like Google and AV have shown based on what individuals have noted.

You are either in, or out. But, Inktomi also has not been ranking new submissions after approx. 8/10/2000, as they did previously. Some indicate an algo. change may have taken place, but the index does not appear stable.

Most have been waiting to see what goes on w/ the "paid submission" program launch, and how that affects new listings being indexed.

We have seen spidering cycles similar to "pre 8/10/2000" listings, but have not been getting the rankings across the board, that we had before that time period.
