He and his band practiced yesterday. One of the kids had a hand-held recorder. For some reason the only thing they recorded was this jam. Matt adjusted the EQ on home computer. I surreptitiously uploaded to youtube. He found out and said it was ok to leave it. Here it is for whoever’s interested:

Listened to the first 3 minutes, so what I'm about to say may be clueless (as he may have demonstrated his full licks skill set in other works).

Pretty good stuff. Some nice licks. Clearly his fingers can fly but I've rarely found "speed" sufficient to hold my attention for long. Tell him one clueless audience member counsels him to keep working on all flavors of licks - so he can give each song a unique personality, emotional core, emotional touches, etc. Speed, by itself, is a one chord performance. The bass line and drum work supporting his performance allowed for a petty wide range of interpretation.

I expect great things from your son as he is quite talented, has a great counselor and fan club.
