Now, this is getting out of hand.

This kind of thing simply means I shall turn off everything when the phone is not is use.

Bring back the featurephone!

The City of London Corporation has asked a company to stop using recycling bins to track the smartphones of passers-by.

Renew London had fitted devices into 12 recycling "pods", which feature LCD advertising screens, to collect footfall data by logging nearby phones.

Renew's chief executive, Kaveh Memari, said the company had "stopped all trials in the meantime".U.K. Waste Bins Tracking Your Smartphone [bbc.co.uk]

Yeah, even the watchdog's thought it's getting out of control and have just brought in new laws for control and standards of publicly-operated CCTV.
