Leading tech firms, patent officers, regulators and academics meet in Geneva later to address whether action is needed to prevent intellectual property disputes "stifling" innovation.

The event follows a flurry of lawsuits involving smartphone makers.

It is set to focus on how to ensure licence rights to critical technologies are offered on "reasonable" terms.
