BBC Site Overloaded and Offline?

I have never seen that, the BBC site appears to be temporarily offline due to server load.

This might be because:
We are experiencing abnormal traffic to our network or
the service or servers it is on is not currently available.


Methinks it's net traffic watching the BBC coverage of the Royal Wedding.

Added, well, it came back, so they must have a handle on it.

Obviously they caught yesterday's Barclays' crashing bug!

I recall back in 2005, on the day of the London bombings. An IT friend of mine was working in Rangoon, and he was essentially in control of all inbound and outbound traffic to the country, so he was pretty well connected in the industry and was in touch with a guy at the BBC at that time. I can't remember the figures, but the bandwidth the Beeb were putting out was mindblowing.
