Office Feng Shui
What kind of energy is flowing in your office?

 8:04 am on Apr 26, 2007 (gmt 0)

Feng Shui - Pronounced in English as fung shway or feng shoo-ee.

What kind of energy is flowing in your office? Are you using any Feng Shui philosophies to influence your short and long term goals?

  • What's on your desk?
  • What's on your wall?
  • What's to your left?
  • What's to your right?
  • What's above you?
  • What's behind you?

Do a 360 and really take an inventory of what your senses are telling you. Do you need a change? Is it time to go out and get a few Money Tree Plants? Maybe a Salt Lamp to help with negative ions? Maybe a picture of a material goal? What do ya' got?

P.S. Website Feng Shui is next! :)

On my desk are piles of bills and letters I have not yet filed away.

On my wall right before me above my computer screen is a picture of a gas station. Hope that's enough energy in the picture.

To my left is my second screen. And an empty bottle of beer from yesterday when I worked late. At the window there are three plants I bought a few weeks ago to bring a little green into my office. Oops, that reminds me. I never watered them since I bought them. Seems they are already dying of thirst.

To my right there are two boxes with paper I wanted to throw away for weeks

Above me is an ugly lamp. Behind me is an ugly storage rack with folders.

Oh man it's depressing in here. I want out.

I have two very different offices - work and home. At work:

> What's on your desk?

LCD monitor, keyboard etc., Cisco IP phone, fingerprint scanner (to access system), glass of water, a few pages of recycled paper for notes. I try to keep the space as empty as possible.

> What's on your wall?

Calendar, list of telephone numbers.

> What's to your left?

> What's to your right?

blank wall.

> What's above you?

Flourescent lighting, air conditioning.

> What's behind you?

Another wall.

At home:

> What's on your desk?

LCD monitor, keyboard etc., notes, data CDs, paid and unpaid bills, scraps of paper with notes, photos, film camera, lamp. Can't see the desk for piled-up junk. :)

> What's on your wall?

Drawings done by my three-year old. Fills most of the wall, floor to ceiling. Covers the bad paintwork.

> What's to your left?

Two bookcases, a dozen boxes stacked up, tools, a freezer, cat litter tray, large window with view over balcony and garden.

> What's to your right?

> What's above you?

Standard ceiling light.

> What's behind you?

Door, bookcase with (often broken) electrical equipment.

Work is efficient, impersonal, organized. Home is my den when I can revel in the disorder. What's the diagnosis, doctor? ;)

What's on your desk?

In front of me my Sony 21.0 TV-PC. Right below that a stack of 1,000,000 dollar bills banded in 100s ($100,000,000.00). Three tiered lamp with two unique rock clusters and on top a Yin/Yang wheel with various colors (from my Mom, she says it brings wealth). I rotate the cluster periodically.

What's on your wall?

Nothing yet. I'm saving that for last (its a new abode). I actually want one wall to be a 3D version of the New World. It will include Google. They say to surround yourself with success, I can't think of anything more successful. There will be large displays somewhere showing real time stats of website properties. ;)

What's to your left?

Picture of my wonderful 7 year old daughter. Behind her, a lucky bamboo plant. Patio slider, usually open so I can hear the wind, the birds, and just all those neat noises outside that keep me sane.

What's to your right?

Picture of my beautiful 7 year old daughter. Modem, 2 routers. Sony 17.0 laptop and my HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One.

I've built an L-Shaped office environment that allows me arms access to everything I need. :)

What's above you?

I'd have to say my Guardian Angel. Someone is definitely keeping an eye on me, I can feel it. :)

What's behind you?

Salt lamp on top of racked stereo cabinet. Archway to living room and dining with more goodies such as Money Tree Plants, Gargoyles, etc.

P1R goes back to work while humming the tune from The Twilight Zone...

-- What's on your desk?

17" screen with pictures stuck around the edges, keyboard, a monitor arm where the laptop sits, a 7-year-old iMac that I sometimes use to run Virtual PC, a basket of papers to sort, another basket of papers to sort, the phone, my sunglasses, a pair of sewing scissors, some CDs, a hair clip, a pile of business cards, empty case for my iPod, a mousepad with pretty colors, a wooden cigar box holding miscellanous stationery items

-- What's on your wall?

The wall is blank. It's painted beige.

-- What's to your left?

Windows that look out on the street, facing south. I can often see children playing. The paper shredder sits under the window.

-- What's to your right?

The door, and a closet full of my dad's books and papers that my brother and I have to sort one of these days. Some of them are Popular Mechanics magazines going back to the thirties.

-- What's above you?

Halogen lights aimed exactly right for the keyboard.

-- What's behind you?

Wall-to-wall bookshelves, full to overflowing. Some shelves have mineral and fossil specimens sitting in front of the books.

-- You didn't ask, "What's under you?"

My floor is birch hardwood with a high-gloss finish. The boards were cut by my dad ... nice aura there!

What's above you?
The star, chimes, white ceiling. The bag-ua is two dimensional and does not address above or below because it's academic, the heavens above (ascension) and earth below, a white ceiling is open to the ether. :-)

What's behind you?
Window, hobby bench, bookshelf, water sculpture, black curtains and wall fan. career center, oh my I'm in trouble. :-) Rear-left: hobby tools, paints, parts bins, lots of tools and blues. skills corner Rear-right: closet with more hobby paraphernalia, storage for work documents people, travel, oops.

The Bag-ua is like a fractal, although it applies to the energy of an overall space such as the layout of your house, it can be broken down into microcosms of spaces within spaces. If your bag-ua is out of order, you can compliment it by just adding color to the corners that are not properly addressed.
