Taking a clue from Essex Boy Lets have a list of the most
unusual named towns you know of.

Here's my three.

Blue Balls, Pa.
Smackover, Ark
Kickapoo, La (name of a local Indian tribe)Also made famous
by the old"Little Abner" comic strip. (Kickapoo Joy Juice!)

Next!

There's a town in southeastern Turkey (Turkish Kurdistan) called Batman [en.wikipedia.org].

And another in northern Poland called Hel [en.wikipedia.org].

I missed my chance the last time I was in Gdansk, but you can take the train to Hel and back.

Boring, Oregon

Do a Google search for "Boring Oregon" and you can easily spot the dynamically generated title tags. I mean, who would purposely title their page "Boring Real Estate Agents, Boring Homes For Sale,..." or my favorite: "Boring Vacations ¦ Away.com"

Towns.. bound to have a few here in New Zealand I guess.. I just can't recall them off-hand.

Places in general, well them we got.

The Tutaekuri River runs just a few miles from here. Kuri is the Maori word for dog, and tutae means sh... umm.. excrement. It's literally the dog poo river. And yeah, it often runs a bit brown.

My guy went hunting in the Urewera mountain ranges - a huge national park here - a couple of months ago. I just learnt last week that Urewera is Maori for 'burnt male body part that rhymes with venus'. Yum.

Peculiar, Missouri

Truth Or Consequences NM is named after the old U.S. TV game show. Originally called Hot Springs, it changed its name in 1950.

In addition to Boring we also have Drain, Oregon.

We have a whole county named Humbug.

At the mouth of the Coumbia River you will find Cape Dissapointment (WA side).

There is also the puzzling little town called Riddle, Oregon, the answer is most surely 42.

The only thing really interesting about Christmas Valley, OR is that it's in the middle of the biggest most desolate desert in Oregon.

There is a small community near New Orleans

called " Fat City " It has a lot of good restaurants there.

But I think the name has something to with the Mardi Gras

and Lent!?
