| Where to begin building a webcam server in Flex?

I'm not sure if it's possible but I would be grateful if someone with experience in Flash or Flex could chime in on this post. I would like to explore building a webcam server in Flash or Flex. I wasn't sure if either tool was appropriate for a server application but I've been wanting to build a free tool that would allow people to allow individuals to view their webcam through a browser. I know that several applications exist but I am also interested in the learning curve but I am not sure were to begin.
I would appreciate any relevant insight anyone might have.

I honestly don't know the answer, but I will give my view, and hopefully others who have experience in this field will pitch in. I see this as being 2 sided. The server that controls the cam and the client that outputs the images/video. I think the client side can be done using flash to read the video file from its stream. The server side however would need to be a program to operate the cam and deliver the stream either from the IP, or via a server. I'm no expert with flash or flex, but I think you will find the server part to be beyond their scope. Mack.
