Getting an FLV player skin to auto-hide?
Player skin always obscures video instead of only appearing on mouseover.

With Flash Video being as popular as it is these days you would think this would be a common request. Yet I can't seem to find any answers on how to do it.

I imported a .mov into my Flash timeline and assigned it a player skin from the preset list: "SkinOverPlaySeekFullscreen.swf"

But the freakin' thing stays over my video, uglifying it.

How do I make it so that the player skin will only appear on mouseover or hover or whatever you want to call it - when the cursor is actually over the movie!

If you use the FLVPlayBack control instead of importing the movie to the timeline you can use its parameters to set the skin and to set it to auto-hide.

"use the FLVPlayBack control instead of importing the movie"

Thank you. Can you elaborate on how to use the playback control? If the movie does not need to be imported, how does one link the FLVPlayBack control with the QuickTime video?

The FLVPlayBack control can be found in the "Components" inspector. Drag it from there onto the Stage. Then, post your video on your server. In the Parameters pane for the FLVPlayBack component, set "Source" to the URL of the video. If you've done this correctly, you will be able to publish the SWF and see the movie play.
