I recently joined Web Master world because I am an amateur web designer and find myself with questions all the time. I joined the forum and noticed a lot of insightful comments. Would anyone be willing to help me with this problem?

I want to amend the following object so that the movie plays ONLY on the first visit to the page? In other words, the movie will not start after a person navigates the site then returns to the home page. Thank you!

<object width="230" height="213">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.example.com/media/File/mediaCenter/embedPlayer/embedded.swf" />
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" />
<param name="FlashVars" value="cat=Prospecting&vid=ven020&autoplay=true&isMenu=true&locale=en&userName=Kristina$Keller-Wilczek&userEmail=email@example.net" />
<embed src="http://www.example.com/media/File/mediaCenter/embedPlayer/embedded.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true"
width="230" height="213" FlashVars="cat=Prospecting&vid=ven020&autoplay=true&isMenu=true&locale=en&userName=Kristina$Keller-Wilczek&userEmail=email@example.net" /></object>

Welcome aboard AlwaysLearning2. The answer to your question lies, I believe, in setting a cookie.

- Check that a cookie has been set
- if it has not been set, set the play variable of your Flash to true, and set the cookie.
- otherwise, set the play variable to false or null, do not play the video.

You also should really take a look (Google) at SWFObject, and easier and more efficient way to insert Flash into your pages.
