Flash 9 Plugin does not start if tab not focused!
Force flash to play regardless of tab focus/blur?

I've been struggling with Flash to do what it has always done correctly and now does incompetently: play.

The music player on my site is designed to automatically load the next URL which it does. The issue is that the Flash object doesn't start until you manually go to the browser and then give focus to the tab the page with the Flash object is in. I want Flash to automatically start for my visitors if the tab my site is in isn't focused and the browser window isn't even in focus! IE plays the Flash object automatically though uses Flash 7 where as Opera and Firefox are using Flash 9. Instead of rebuilding about 100 flash objects from scratch I just want to figure out how to make this work! Here are my Flash parameters which have had absolutely no effect regardless of what values I give them...

<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" />
<param name="play" value="true" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />

Answer: Flash 9 has a bug where the existence of the wmode parameter element will not allow Flash objects to correctly start if a browser's tab does not have focus in Opera and Gecko based browsers (this bug does not effect IE7 after a couple of tests).
