Do I need a streaming server?

 11:07 am on Aug 7, 2007 (gmt 0)

I'm creating flv content to add to my site that I would like to stream.

Firstly how do i get that content to stream and secondly do I have to have it on a streaming server or purchase Adobe Media Server (which is around 4k).

From what I understands from the Adobe site I do but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks in advance for any help

To a great extent it depends how well you want to stream. In most cases, no, you don't.

You probably don't. You can try and implement progressive downloading of flv files with php. Search Google for: streaming flv with php.

Thanks for the help... I shall take a look around for the streaming with php articles and examples.

Streaming video always seemed so complicated to me - I would have thought you could put a video on any server and then it would just stream!

Thanks again
