I've seen quite a few people complain about the "me too" fluff in certain forums, especially adsense and the main google forums when they decide to shake their algo up every few months.

it would be nice to be able to go through those huge threads with all the "me too" and "I hear ya" posts filtered out using some sort of interest threshold.

perhaps a scale from +10 down to -10 and the default is "view all". Each post would have perhaps just a simple [+][-] on it. It would need to be ajax-based to prevent unnecessary page loads which would discourage members from using it.

I realise it's a big function to add to the site. Perhaps only have it use negatives and you could filter posts that have picked up more than X negative marks against it.
