| Facebook Like plugin starts with 100+ likes?

I just implemented the Facebook Like plugin on my website and I noticed it started out with over 100 "likes". How could this happen when I just implemented the plugin for the first time? Could it be related to my usage of Facebook Ads for the same URL? If so, is there a way to see a tally of those likes without using the Facebook Like plugin?

I saw the same thing when I added the like button to my pages. I also noticed that some FB visitors kept on reading the same page over and over again from the same FB referer. Some even up more than a dozen page reads within minutes.
