Those in Europe who export small orders ouside Europe, how do you get proof that you have exported so you don't have to charge VAT? With small orders I mean something like 20 EUR. Officially I need export documents that get signed by customs when goods leave the country, but they cost a lot more than the VAT I can save.

If you are using mail all you need is a Certificate of Posting from your Post Office. If you are mailing several items together you can get a Bulk Certificate of Posting. Obviously you will keep these for your records.
