Paypal & VAT

I've integrated to Paypal Checkout using the NVP method and am currently passing the VAT amounts across.

Due to the way our back end system works we have nett prices at 4 decimal places, we multiply that by the qty and then apply the VAT rate.

This is giving me some headaches with the Paypal integration with rounding issues etc.

The vendors of our backoffice system have a webstore solution but all they do for Paypal is pass the overall total, so don't send any VAT figures etc. We want to have a more detailed checkout process on Paypal, but can we get away with passing nothing for VAT?

I have tried it and technically it's OK but of course it shows up as a bit fat zero VAT!

Any ideas?
