Hi,

We are using a third party solution, Plimus, for credit card clearing in our company.
The following seems to happen a lot:
A user purchases product A successfully and then when trying to purchase product B shortly after, using exactly the same credit card he is getting credit card denied.
Plimus are explaining to us that there could be millions of reason for this (for instance operation looked suspicious to the credit card processor or his funds ran out from purchase A to purchase B) and that the user should check with his bank and that they are not receiving this information themselves from the gateways.
This answer does not seem reasonable to us, as this happens quite often...

Any ideas how can this be investigated?

I've run into that quite often. A charge goes through, then not long after (within an hour maybe) I try to charge the card again, and it's denied.

Transactions are monitored by computers, and they red flag anything suspicious, and will put holds on the cards until the suspicion is cleared. Two charges from the same merchant in X minutes or hours can be a red flag.

If Plimus cannot tell you the decline reason maybe you should look elsewhere. Most decent processors can tell you reason codes like: not enough funds in account, address verification error etc...

They claim that they are not getting this information themselves from the processors...

Sounds like you need a real merchant account. Not a go-between. Or just one that does a better job of getting you the info you need
