I think if you ask four SEO people about this, you will get six opinions. What was the purpose of having those blogs offsite in the first place (instead of as part of the main ecommerce site)?

The purpose was to catch more traffic for product related keywords via content blog and I succeeded in that. I am getting traffic for such keywords via content blog that my ecom site could not get. Now I want to redirect my content blog visitors to ecom site. Can anyone comment who has done this?

Personally I add links into my content. Or at the end pointing out they can find said product on this ecom site. I don't say its my ecom site. I also don't do this for every article a banner sits on the side if they wont to go there and visit. To me I don't want to get redirected automagicaly if I am looking for a specific topic one not related to purchasing.

I run an off-site blog for product releases, I always offer links back to the main ecommerce site as well as other sites, Amazon, iTunes etc. A lot of our customers prefer to buy from Amazon. You shouldnt be worrying too much about SEO but more "what would the reader want" I think if you start redirecting visitors to your main site you'll just end upsetting people and loosing traffic. You may end up loosing all your potential customers.
