Any good software to serve up cross selling items?

We are running a blog shop and we are looking for a solution to recommend related items (or pages) automatically to buyers.

As we are not using a shopping cart program, what is a good method to do so?

We have about 1000 items.

Shopping carts are all over the place. Paypal has one. 2CO has one. Most payment processors will give you one for free as a means of facilitating your ability to make them money.

How do you take payments? That's the place to start. Often good software is already at your fingertips.

Hi, thanks for the quick response. I think you misunderstood my question, but I think it's my fault for not stating clearly. :)

We are using Paypal shopping cart.

What I want to do is to find a software to recommend related items, or to cross sell related items to customers on product pages. Now, we are hard coding in items but that's not very efficient.

I was thinking of using Google DFP for small businesses to 'recommend' related items but it seems to be quite clumsy to do so.

Are there any softwares out there that is able to do this?

Or mine for not paying attention. It's been happening a lot these days. Long story.

Something similar to what Amazon has going? Or Ebay?

"People who purchase this item were also interested in this item as well"

"Recently viewed items."

That sort?

I've gotten with one of my affiliate managers in the past and actually suggested this. Their opinion was that their product catagories were already well enough defined. I'm thinking every little bit helps when you're competiting on the web. All I could do was suggest though. It would quite impossible for me implement this on my own sites, even if the code was sitting right in front of. It would have to be in their code, not mine, and I simply don't have access to enough of it.

Sorry I can't help more...

Good luck though.

Installing links to "similar products" and to "similar categories" should not be ignored.

Hi thanks,

Yes something like amazon.

And yes, I would like to install links to "similar products". Right now we are doing it manually and hard coding the "similar products" onto individual product pages.

Is there any software that could suggest relevant products either by rotating a few suggestions and automatically use the ones with the greatest click through or some other algorithm to the effect.

And this is just a small point and puhlease don't think I'm niggling at you. I'm not. I'm sometimes a stickler for correct usage though. It's this obsessive/compulsive thing I've got going.

Don't be mad okay?

"Softwares" is not a word. The word "software" is one of those funny ones that cover both plural and singlular at the same time.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens said it best,

"I've never learned anything from any man who has agreed with what what I've had to say"

And that's my philosophy as well. Correct me if I'm wrong. That's how I learn. That's how I know how not to make the same mistake twice.

Spoken in the true spirit of learning. No meanness intended whatsoever. I'd love nothing more than to see you come back in a few days and tell everybody you found this excellent code for next to nothing and have already got in place on your site and that it's working like a charm.

I've got a feeling you'll do it too.

I came across a solution from WinBuyer the offer product advertisements that are related to the products you display on your site. i think its: Related Search from External Websites.

Displays the products in a widget that rotates and provides matches that are relevant to your products.
