Calculating Shipping

 11:47 am on Oct 14, 2010 (gmt 0)

This is a long running issue with seemingly no proper answer.

What is the best way to go about creating accurate shipping costs for purchases of more than one item?

Delivery companies don't use a price per gram formula and many don't have an API also what about shipping small items and big items together when the small item can be packed in with the larger one.

Its because there is no easy answer.

I will tell you what we do. We have weighed and measured all our products, we have a formula that calculates the total weight and then calculates the dimensional wieght, then it chooses the larger number. Then gets the total cost of shipping from a table based on the weight.

If you know the weight cant you just pass the qty x weight to the paypal API ?
