Hi,

I currently have my homepage laid out with a bestsellers box, new arrivals box, banners running along the left/right columns, etc...; however, I'm thinking it might be time for a homepage layout change.

How important is your homepage product placement/layout in increasing sales? What are some homepage methods that has helped you increase sales?

Homepage Product Ideas:
- Use large images instead of small thumbnails on the homepage?
- Use description text under each product to describe the products better?
- Use an auto-rotation image banner where all your new arrivals / bestsellers rotate continuously?
- Etc...

Thank you,

That partially depends on how you have customers arriving to your site. If you are running ad campaigns that are dropping visitors on a landing page that was directly related to their search, they may not even see your home page.

We use large and small images on the home page. Little or no descriptions - maybe a few grouped images under a category banner. Yes, on the auto-rotation use.

If you can use a process of elimination to deduce "who" is using your home page to enter your site, you may be able to profile what should be on it. Rhetorical question: why is someone coming in my home page instead of a more specific landing page? What is my top referrer to the home page (that may help profile their interests).
