Have you tested your checkout process start to finish? Something somewhere along the line may be broken. You don't have to have changed anything, it could be a server thing or payment gateway thing. Make sure people are still capable of ordering.

Hi, I just tested creating an account and submiting an order and everything seems to be working fine...this is strange!

There's a lot less spending in the US these days, if your orders are primarily US. [edited by: lorax at 7:41 pm (utc) on April 15, 2009]

Yeah, this recession isn't helping either... [edited by: lorax at 7:41 pm (utc) on April 15, 2009]

Unless you are selling to manufacturers who have all gone out of business a sudden and total stop is probably something other than just the recession. Has your payment processor suddenly switched to using Verfied by Visa/Mastcard Secure Code? That will throw a lot of people. Don't walk through the process yourself, get somebody who is not an IT professional and is not particularly web savvy to do it and watch them.

Sales have dropped for us some the past couple of weeks but to completely stop, that screams that something else is wrong.

It has been slow for us this month too. I think the Spring Break has affected sales. I hope the rest of the month picks up.

Maybe check your ranking in search engines?

Check your rankings on a computer you have never used before. Like at a friends house, or phone somebody a long way away from you to check.

Check your ONLINE CHECK-OUT on a computer you have never used before, like at a friends house. Buy a simple item and see if the system is still working. You could also phone somebody in a different state and have them do a sale as a test. Or you could call me. Thats right my friend. For $29.95 I too can test your website. I'll make a sale of an item of my choice for me from my personal computer and we can have it paid for by you and mailed to me and that way we can tell if the system is working. Just think how much money you will earn through Peace-of-Mine. And I will make $29.95 plus a free gift. Everybody is happy.

We had record sales the first two months of the year, then this month very low unfortunately. It just got really slow for some reason.

I got about three times as many sales as usual on Monday and then none since then. I have also noticed my visits were about 1/3 as many as usual on Tuesday and Wednesday. Yesterday they were a little more than 1/2 as much as usual so I'm hoping this is about done. I checked my main sources of traffic and nothing has appeared to change. Seems like a quirky week.

Our traffic is down about 20% and sales have fallen off the map, the worst ever actually. Your not alone :-(

I have been in e-commerce since 2001, beginning of April is always very slow, in the UK i put it down to council rates bills coming in, plus the normal gas/electric. Also, garden centres pick up a lot of business, with the bank holiday weekend it doesn't help either. Also, check the compo, make sure no one has got a special promo on, maybe a discount voucher company is in your market. A total drop is unusual, good advice above, a new PC at friends house is always a first step. If your traffic levels are steady it might just be due to the above. Check google analytics as well.

What gateway are you using? Linkpoint has been down a couple times this week.
