email marketing intro

 6:54 pm on Aug 7, 2008 (gmt 0)

i'm looking for a good path to email potiential clients as well as existing. i'm sure theres alot of people with experience out there. if you had to send someone somewhere or to some software where would you go? any one got reviews or other threads i could look at?

Software or service? The answer lies in the features you want. A common package that many folks use is ConstantContact though I've seen mention of another player (maybe even free - I haven't checked it out yet). CC is a subscription service. They handle everything except the creative and list management. The other is a load on your server app. Your job to manage everything.

BTW - welcome to WebmasterWorld and the Ecomm forum in particular.

I have always avoided anything to do with email marketing however, many of my clients use ConstantContact.

This is not an endorsement on mypart, just because I say they use it.

>> host will have a platform

No. I'm saying you could install software. They MAY have something you can use but it's not necessarily a service they'll provide.
